CFP-Mothering in Poetry Session at SAMLA Conference
Mothering in Poetry
The 2011 SAMLA conference will be in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 4-6, 2011. This session seeks paper proposals that explore the various images of modern mothering and motherhood in poetry. Topics may include, but are not limited to: constructions or changes of mothering identities and motherhood in poetry; discussions of "good" or "bad" mothering in poetry; complexities of mothering and motherhood in poetry, especially as they intersect with race, discrimination, class, gender, economics, nation, family, community, education, technology, and language; new connections between mothering and motherhood and the modern world in poetry; and ideological and social debates of mothering and motherhood in poetry. By May 1, 2011, please submit paper proposals of 300-500 words as a word document and a short C.V. (including complete contact information) to Dorsía Smith Silva, University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, at email@example.com.
