The Beat movement can be situated within a number of US, Western, and world traditions. One of the most immediate, yet often overlooked, of these Beat contexts is modernism. This panel seeks to explore the manifold ways in which Beat writing is shaped by, responds to, contests, and transforms modernist legacies.
