Symposium of Western Cultural and Literary Studies

5-6-7 October 2011

The BAKEA Symposium welcomes papers and panel proposals from the researchers in the fields of English, American, French and German Cultures and Literatures

IDEOLOGY
Literature, Medvedev argued, not only participates in the social process, it is in and of itself a special social entity. “Literature enters into the milieu of ideological activity as one of its autonomous branches, occupying a special place in it as a set of distinctively organized verbal productions with the structure of a kind specific and peculiar to such productions alone. This structure, as of any other ideological structure, refracts the generative process of socioeconomic existence, and does so in its own peculiar way…. In its content, literature reflects the ideological purview, i.e., other, unartistic (ethical, cognitive, etc.) ideological formations” (27-29).
This conference solicits proposals for papers by researchers and scholars in the fields of English, American, French and German Cultures and Literatures that examine the role of ideology in literature and the relationship between ideology and literature to be presented at a 3-day- conference on October 5-6-7, 2011, Pamukkale University in Denizli, Turkey.
