This panel explores the movement between nationalism and cultural memory in a range of texts for or about young people, including fiction, poetry, films, comics, and political and/or educational documents. Areas of interest include the concern for and treatment of cultural memory as it is shaped, contested, forgotten, recovered, and (re)circulated, sometimes in opposition to dominant national narratives, for the benefit of young readers.

Deadline for abstracts: 25 March 2011.
