The Indian Popular Culture panel is now accepting proposals for the upcoming Midwest Popular Culture and Midwest American Culture Association Conference in October. The MPCA/MACA conference will be held in Milwaukee, WI from 14-16 October, 2011.

I am currently seeking original work in any area of Indian Popular Culture. Abstracts can include a wide variety of issues related to any form of Indian Popular Culture: cinema both Bollywood and other, television, music, comics, cyberculture, youth culture, tourism, food, fashion, etc… Work that relates to India and Indians in Popular Culture, such as NBC’s sitcom Outsourced or Virgin Comic’s India Authentic, are also welcome.

Please email a paper abstract by Monday, May 2, 2011 to sarah.n.petrovic@gmail.com. Along with a paper description, include university affiliation, and email address.

I also welcome panel proposals, with three or more participants, consisting of a panel description along with a full list of presenters and paper titles. Please include university affiliation, professional address, and email address for each presenter and the chair.
