Cultural Studies Book on Brad Pitt
Proposals are being solicited for an edited volume organized around the subject of Brad Pitt. The editors envision a book on Brad Pitt that ranges broadly across the humanities, with chapters focusing on film studies, gender & sexuality, architecture, eco-criticism & critical regionalism, and popular culture.
We welcome abstracts for theoretically informed essays on topics such as:
Analyses of individual Brad Pitt film roles, or comparative studies of Pitt's performances across different films
Brad Pitt as sex icon; Brad Pitt as uber-father
Brad Pitt and architecture
Brad Pitt and environment (urban, wilderness, & others)
Brad Pitt and violence
Images of Brad Pitt (how they travel, what they are used for)
"Brad Pitt for Mayor" (Brad Pitt in New Orleans)
Brad Pitt as mainstream star; Brad Pitt as cultural rogue
Brad Pitt cameo appearances
Brad Pitt's literary personae ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," Legends of the Fall, Fight Club, A River Runs Through It, etc.)
Send abstracts of no more than 300 words by October 1 2011 to Christopher Schaberg at schaberg@loyno.edu. Please also include current CV. Final essays should be between 5000 and 8000 words, and will be due July 1 2012.
