Lawrence Durrell Centenary Panel, Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture Since 1900, 23 – 25 February 2012
27 February 2012 will mark the hundredth anniversary of the birth of British novelist and travel writer Lawrence Durrell. To celebrate Lawrence Durrell's Centenary—and in anticipation of the program of special exhibitions and events to be held in London (13 – 16 June 2012)—the International Lawrence Durrell Society will sponsor a panel at the Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture since 1900, February 23-25 2012.
Lawrence Durrell's talents and interests ranged wide, and the Society therefore welcomes submissions on any aspect of his literary career. These may include critical treatments of individual works by Durrell, such as The Alexandria Quartet, The Avignon Quintet, or The Black Book. Additionally, we encourage submissions that examine Durrell's writing in connection with works by his mentors, friends, and associates (C. P. Cavafy, T. S. Eliot, Henry Miller, Anais Nin, and Patrick Leigh Fermor, to name only a few).
Please submit a 300-word abstract by 30 September 30 2011 to Pamela J. Francis, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions should be formatted as MS-Word attachment, and please include your name, institutional affiliation, and contact information.
