ALA 2012: Hemingway's Other Loves
American Literature Association Conference
May 22-27, 2012 in San Francisco, CA
While much has been said about Hemingway's relationships with his wives, family and friends, it is also well known that he had many other interests that he was passionate about. Paul Hendrickson has most recently highlighted one of those other passionate relationships in citing the importance of the Pilar to Hemingway in his recent biographical study Hemingway's Boat. This panel seeks proposals that may address any of the "other," preferably non-human, loves in Hemingway's life. As a man of diverse interests, possible proposals might address the locations that were dear to him, possessions he was fond of, and any other hobbies or interests that were passionate forces in his life.
Please direct your 250 word paper proposal and a brief C.V. to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 15th, 2011. Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes.
