This interdisciplinary conference on the work of the poet and artist David Jones (1895-1974) seeks to explore Jones's cultural theory, and how his creative works confront the concerns of modern culture through artifice. The topic allows for an investigation of Jones's entire output, including his wood and copper engravings, paintings and drawings, poetry, essays, and painted inscriptions. An exhibition of Jones's major book illustrations will accompany this conference, and any proposals on this aspect of his work will be of particular interest. Submit twenty minute paper proposals (250 words max.) by January 15, 2012 to: wauhonors@gmail.com
