LGBTQI Graduate Students and Academiafull name / name of organization: Ervin Malakaj, Graduate Student Caucus of the Modern Language Association contact email: emalakaj@wustl.edu The Graduate Student Caucus, an affiliate organization of the MLA, invites proposals for papers to be presented at the 2013 MLA annual meeting (Boston, Jan. 3-6, 2013). Please send abstracts (ca. 250 words) to Ervin Malakaj (emalakaj@wustl.edu) by March 10. LGBTQI graduate students encounter a variety of barriers – structural, institutional, covert, implicit – as they prepare to enter the profession, which remains an unchanged challenge for many young scholars. We invite scholars from all stages of their academic career to submit proposals for papers that call attention to areas where higher education is falling short of its commitment to equality, diversity, accessibility, visibility, and integration. We welcome papers that would contribute to a larger discussion about how these barriers can be identified and suggestions for how they can be overcome. cfp categories: african-american american bibliography_and_history_of_the_book childrens_literature classical_studies cultural_studies_and_historical_approaches ecocriticism_and_environmental_studies eighteenth_century ethnicity_and_national_identity film_and_television gender_studies_and_sexuality general_announcements graduate_conferences humanities_computing_and_the_internet interdisciplinary medieval modernist studies poetry popular_culture postcolonial professional_topics religion renaissance rhetoric_and_composition romantic theatre theory travel_writing twentieth_century_and_beyond victorian
