Panel and paper proposal deadline: 30 APRIL 2012

The Indigenous Studies area of the Midwest Popular Culture Association seeks panel and paper proposals for the annual Midwest Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association conference, this year to be held Friday-Sunday, 12-14 October 2012 at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel in Columbus, Ohio.

The area seeks papers that address any aspect of Indigenous, Aboriginal, and First Nations popular culture. The area highly encourages comparative papers between Indigenous and, say, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, or African popular cultures. Topics might address, but are not in any way limited to the following:
Film
Television
New Media
Video Games, Blogging, YouTube
Advertising
Fashion
Literature
Comic books and Cartoons
Radio shows
Folklore
Theater, Festivals, Spectacles, and Ceremonies
Music
Visual art
Indigeneity and Aboriginality
Ethnicity and Nationhood

Diaspora and Transnationality
Comparative studies
