Call for Papers

SAAS is an inspiring academic network that encourages scholarship in the multidisciplinary field of American Studies. SAAS seeks to develop a critical understanding of the role, place and meaning of the United States and North America. In Sweden, research about the US/America is conducted in many different disciplines; the biennial SAAS conference thus functions as an important forum for interdisciplinary exchange and encounters between American Studies scholars.

This is a call for papers for the 7th SAAS conference, which will be held in Uppsala, Sweden, 20-22 September 2012. Confirmed speakers are Winfried Fluck, Freie Universität, Berlin, and Monica Siebert, University of Richmond, Virginia.

We invite abstracts for individual papers (2-300 words) or panels (5-600 words) on any topic related to the study of the United States and North America in all its aspects. We welcome contributions from junior and senior scholars in areas including, but not limited to:

Anthropology
Art
Cultural Studies
Film and Media Studies
Gender Studies
Literature
Musicology
Popular Culture
Political Science
Religion
US or North American History
