Creative Writing in the Medical Humanities, submission deadline April 27, 2012
Creative Writing in the Medical Humanities
Contemporary culture has a growing presence of narratives about medicine from the point of view of patient, caregiver, and general observer of healthcare in this nation. We're looking for writers who focus on healthcare issues in their work, be it poetry, fiction, personal narrative, or hybrid texts. Please send a 3-4 sentence abstract of your project by April 27 to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com if you are interested in reading/presenting on this panel. We expect each presenter to combine a brief discussion of the challenges and creative processes, as well as a brief reading from their texts. All points of view are welcome, from caregivers to patients, from social critics to outsiders, so long as the writing is creative in its approach and form.
A panel will be proposed for AWP in Boston, March 6-9, 2013.
