Literature and Medicine

This panel seeks to explore the intersection between literature and a "hard science" such as medicine. Proposals about any of the
possible connections between these two fields are welcome. One area of inquiry could be the representation of medical practices
and discoveries in literary texts and other cultural documents from all time periods and geographical areas. Another possible
avenue for exploration is the use of literary reading practices for the analysis of medical documents such as case studies, medical
treatises, etc. In a more general way, the purpose of this panel is to reflect on the role of the comparative method in the emerging
and gradually expanding field of humanities-based approaches to science.
