UPDATE Deadline for MWASECS extended to August 15
Call for Papers: Midwestern American Society for 18th-Century Studies (MWASECS) annual meeting in Madison WI on October 11-13. Deadline: August 15.
MWASECS, the midwestern regional affiliate of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, seeks proposals for individual papers (with abstracts) and complete or nearly-complete panels on any aspect of the "long" eighteenth century, 1660-1830. Panels will consist of three or four papers, with a Q&A session following. This year's general theme is Emergence/Emergents/Emerging, which may be addressed in any number of ways. MWASECS is an interdisciplinary organization so paper topics need not be limited to literary subjects.
Concurrent panel presentations will begin on the morning of October 12 and continue through Saturday afternoon. The conference will be held at The Inn on the Park in Capitol Square, which has offered us a very reasonable conference rate of $114/night. Their website is located at http://www.innonthepark.net/
Individual paper abstracts should be sent to J. Karen Ray, program chair. Proposals for complete or nearly-complete panels should be sent to this year's MWASECS president, Susan Spencer.
