Proposals are being accepted for the British Cinema Area of the 34rd annual SWTX PCA/ACA conference "Celebrating Popular/American Culture(s) in a Global Context," February 13-16, 2013, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.(www.swtxpca.org).

Listed below are suggestions for possible presentations, but topics not included here are also very welcome.

• British New Wave cinema
• The work of Ken Loach, David Lean, Lindsay Anderson and other auteur directors
• The British film noir cycle of the late 1940s.
• British Asian Cinema
• Heritage Cinema
• Representations and postcolonial critiques of Empire
• War Films of the 1950s
• The Irish Question in British Films
• Sport in British Cinema
• British Films about Youth Culture
• British Gangster Films
• The Hammer Horror Cycle
• Cinema and British Identity
• Comedy (Ealing comedies, Carry On series, Monty Python, etc.)
• Queer Films
• Films of the Thatcher era
• Swinging London films

Please note that the conference has a “James Bond Franchise and Eurospy” area for proposals dealing with those film-related topics.

Please submit your presentation title, abstract (200-250 words), and brief current resume by November 16, 2012 to the conference website database which can be accessed at http://conference2013.swtxpca.org
