MODERNIST MAGAZINES IN THE AMERICAS: POINTS OF DEPARTUREfull name / name of organization: OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY contact email: ewhite@brookes.ac.uk CFP: MODERNIST MAGAZINES IN THE AMERICAS: POINTS OF DEPARTURE http://www.poetry.brookes.ac.uk/modernist-magazines/ CALL FOR PAPERS – DEADLINE 1 OCTOBER 2012 PLENARY SPEAKERS This one-day conference is hosted jointly by Oxford Brookes University and the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford. Its remit is to celebrate the publication of the second volume of Oxford University Press's Oxford Critical & Cultural History of Modernist Magazines: North America 1894-1960, edited by Peter Brooker and Andrew Thacker, and to explore little magazines and their broader cultural contexts across the Americas. Our intention is to stimulate a discussion of current issues, methodologies and practices, and to consider new directions for modernist periodicals studies. This conference calls for papers (from postgraduates and from established scholars) which explore points of departure in the study of modernist magazines from the Americas. A broad range of topics and approaches will be considered for presentations of no more than 20 minutes.
