WHO
Assets Coming Together (ACT) for Youth is
an alliance across sectors, disciplines, and
communities committed to positive youth
development in urban communities. As youth
involved with this initiative, we know how
critical our voices are to the research process,
and with our partners in ACT we are committed
to making research relevant and building our
leadership.
WHAT
The conference is a chance to explore and talk
about the ways that we can tell our own stories
about where we’re from, what our lives are like,
and what organizations and policy-makers
should be doing to make things better. Our goal
is to equip our peers with the knowledge and
resources they need to conduct rich research,
effectively share findings, and act on these
findings by building relationships within and
beyond their communities.
We are excited to invite youth and youthled
organizations to propose a workshop,
presentation, or performance in (but not limited
to) the following areas:
• Youth-leadership in the research process
• How community development through
research impacts youth
• Story telling and social change
• Knowledge dissemination, research to
action, and youth engagement
• Arts-based research approaches to youth
research
HOW
To make a submission, please send a 250
word outline of your proposed presentation,
performance, or workshop by September 7, 2012
to actyouth@yorku.ca. Please note that we also
welcome creative submissions!
