Search is a new, peer-reviewed journal focused on the creative arts and culture. Search will
focus upon sharing information about significant new developments in music and the others
arts. Furthermore, Search will exist as a forum for critical and speculative assessments not only
of the work of individual artists and artistic movements, but also of the state of the art form and
its possible roles and responsibilities in society.

What will make Search unusual is its commitment to combining the flexibility of on-line
interaction with the high academic standards traditionally found in print media. Search will be
published online three times per year, and will include along with the articles moderated
discussions of issues raised in the articles. Once a year, a printed edition of Search will be
published, consisting of selected articles and discussions. The authors selected for this edition
will have the opportunity of presenting revised versions of their articles, including elements from
the online discussion if they so desire.

Search is currently requesting papers on several topics, listed at http://searchnewmusic.org/
subscriptions.html. These topics include "Music and/Or Text," "Composition and Cognitive
Science," and an ongoing forum on "Forum on Adorno, Music, and Society" (http://
searchnewmusic.org/forum.html).

Inquiries and paper proposals can be sent to searchjournal_at_gmail.com. The Editors will be
accepting submissions for the July 1, 2008 issue next issue beginning March 1, 2008, with a
submission deadline of April 1, 2008.
