The Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Morgan State University, in conjunction with B’More Proud, invites scholars to participate in a one-day academic symposium. The symposium will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013. This symposium seeks to explore the complex intersections of sexuality, gender, race and ethnicity as they relate to LGBTQ themes. Each year’s themes will reflect the dimensionality of intersectional inquiry. The symposium is open to scholars in every discipline whose work is pertinent to Queer Studies and/or the LGBTQ community.

We invite submissions in the following subject areas:
• Human rights
• Religion
• Marriage
• Redefining Families
• Transgender Issues
• Health and Reproductive Rights
• Film and Literature
• Popular Culture
• Government and Law
• Global Contexts
• Science and Medicine
• Mental Health

Submission Deadline: December 7, 2012
(Notification of Acceptance by January 28, 2013)

Submission Guidelines:
We invite one-page abstracts for individual papers and panels. We encourage proposals in creative formats, including artwork. Students are also invited to submit abstracts for consideration. Abstracts and proposals should be submitted via email to intersectionssymposium@gmail.com and should be in either Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, or Rich Text format, and should include the following:

A cover page that contains the following information for abstracts and panels:
i. Author's name
ii. Title of Submission
iii. Institutional affiliation
iv. Contact information (email, phone number, mailing address)
v. The area of the submission (e.g. economics, English, philosophy, etc.)
