The Sylvia Townsend Warner Society invites entries to the Mary Jacobs Memorial Essay Competition, instituted to recognise the late Mary Jacobs' outstanding contribution to Warner studies.

The prize offered is £200 (GBP), publication of the winning entry in the Journal of the Sylvia Townsend Warner Society and one year's free membership of the Society.

Essays of not more than 4000 words on any aspect of the life and work of Sylvia Townsend Warner should be submitted to Helen.Sutherland@glasgow.ac.uk by 31 March 2013. Please send as two Word documents: the essay without identification and a second document with your name and the title of your essay.
The winner will be notified in July 2013 and the essay published in the Journal later that year.
