Companion to American Gothic (Jan 31 2013)full name / name of organization: Dr John Sears & Dr Jason Haslam contact email: J.Sears@mmu.ac.uk Call for contributors We are currently commissioning contributions to a proposed Companion to American Gothic, to be published in 2015 by a major UK academic publisher as part of a new series of Gothic companions. Proposals for chapters of 5500-6500 words (including notes) are invited. Early career researchers are encouraged to submit, but we welcome proposals from all American Gothic scholars. Chapters are required that offer critically erudite, authoritative, and cogently written surveys and analyses, focused on appropriate examples, addressing the following topics: European Ghosts, American Witches: Early American Gothic Realism / Romance Slavery and the Gothic Romantic Gothic: The American Tradition American Modernism and the Southern Gothic American Gothic after 9/11 American Art and the Gothic Sublime American Gothic Film and Television Gothic Gaming in Video and Role-Playing Gender and American Gothic African-American Gothic Border Magic - Chicano/Chicana Gothic Proposals (500 words), and any queries about these topics, should be sent by email to the editors, Jason Haslam (Jason.Haslam@dal.ca) and John Sears (J.Sears@mmu.ac.uk), by January 31st 2013.
