May 23-26, 2013, in Boston
Deadline: January 20, 2013

“Southern Literary Studies and Louis Rubin”

The Society for the Study of Southern Literature will present its first annual Louis Rubin Prize at the 2013 meeting of the American Literature Association during a special session featuring new scholarship on writers and ideas influenced by Rubin and his writings. All relevant proposals will be considered. Examples of possible approaches include studies of Rubin’s own creative work or that of his students, assessments of the state of the field of southern literary studies 60 years after Southern Renascence, and new approaches to Rubin’s scholarship or to writers in which he has been interested. Relevant creative work is also welcome. Please email abstracts and either a cover letter or 2-page CV by January 20, 2013, to Tara Powell at tfpowell@gmail.com. For further information about these sessions or SSSL, please contact Tara Powell, or for information about the conference, consult the ALA website at www.americanliterature.org.
