The PCC Innovative Teaching for Social Justice conference seeks to bring together scholars and researchers, activists, facilitators, high school, community college, and university teachers, practitioners, administrators, graduate students, adjunct instructors, counselors, and college students into dialogue about composition, remediation and Basic Skills, and models for student success, such as Stretch Composition, Acceleration, and First Year cohorts and programs.

This conference is co-sponsored by 3CSN, SASI, PCC Diveristy Initiative, Basic Skills Initiative, Assessment, and Stretch-Accelerated Composition at PCC.

Keynote Speakers are TBA. We seek abstracts and proposals for round table discussions, panels, paper presentations, and other discourse presentations (film, technology, media, performance) on the following topics:
• Stretch Composition
• Accelerated Composition
• ESL, Basic Skills,
• Specific syllabi, assignments, course outlines in a stretched or accelerated class
• Discipline-based writing models
• Project-based learning models
• Narrative experience-telling
• Data sharing on success and retention
• The role of supplemental instruction
• Social Justice and conversations about race, class, gender, and sexuality
• Technology and writing
• Program administration
• Placement and Counseling
• Revolutionary pedagogy and praxis
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration and composition
• Reading and Literacy
• Student-Teacher Collaborations
• Building Writing Communities and developing cohorts
• First Year Experience programs
