Interdisciplinary Literary Studies: A Journal of Criticism and Theory is a peer-reviewed journal that explores the interconnections between literary study and other disciplines, ideologies, and cultural methods of critique. All national literatures, periods, and genres are welcomed topics.

Guest editors Jeffrey Herlihy-Mera and Vamsi K. Koneru invite submissions from new and established scholars for an installment of Interdisciplinary Literary Studies. The issue seeks to interpret how foreignness influences art, literature, and thought. “Text” is to be interpreted broadly and comprises literature, nonfiction, advertisements, maps, music, film, poetry, visual and performing arts, e-media, and other tracts. Original articles, theoretical pieces, linguistic analyses, cultural perspectives, and historical examinations, concerning any period, are welcome.

Submit inquiries and articles by 1 November 2013 to:

Possible topics include (and are not limited to):

How does foreign-status affect art, literature, and thought? How does exile affect perceptions of community, selfhood, and the new community? How do communicative endeavors—like writing, art, and music—shape a person’s self-perception? What role does the foreign culture have in the cultural artifacts produced by migrant peoples?
