TOT ART: The Visual Arts, Fascism(s) and Mass-Society" September 26-27, 2013 (deadline July 31, 2013)
We are writing to announce an extended deadline for the Call for Papers for the "TOT ART: The Visual Arts, Fascism(s) and Mass-Society" Conference to be held at California State University, Chico on September 26-27 2013.
What are fascisms? What is their relevance to changes in the world today? How do they relate to forms of organization of mass-society? What has been the impact of fascism(s) on the visual arts? How have the visual arts represented them, participated in them, legitimized them, attacked them, questioned them, interacted with them on the aesthetic and technical levels?
Please, disseminate far and wide. Feel free to contact the Organizing Committee (firstname.lastname@example.org) for any questions.
We welcome proposals across a wide range of theoretical and cultural perspectives with a focus not only on Italian Fascism, but also on its many other variants, both past and present.
The following are the three main possible subject areas:
FASCISM(S): IMPACT, REPRESENTATION AND AESTHETICS
FASCISM(S), THEIR THEORISTS AND THEIR VISIONS OF SOCIETY
FASCISM(S) AND THE CRAFTING OF THE PRESENT (ALSO IN MEDIA AND EDUCATION)
