Calls for proposal for a literature panel on "Aesthetics and Violence" at NeMLA (Harrisburg, PA, April 3-6, 2014)

This panel seeks to explore the relationship between formal violence and socio-political conflict. It is open to all genres –poetry, narrative, theatre– and focuses on Latin American literature. The following topics may be taken as guides to the debate: formal innovation and revolution, language and subjectivity, the politics and poetics of crisis, modernization and aesthetic appropriation, genre development, and the representation of socio-political conflict. Please submit 250-word abstracts in English or Spanish to gina.beltran@utoronto.ca.
