Fairy Tale in Contemporary Women’s Literature: NeMLA 2014 Panel

This panel seeks papers that focus on contemporary female writers working in the tradition of fairy tale. Possible topics include fairy tale and the body; role of the fairy tale in memory and healing; authority and transgression; place of the fantastic in modernity; fairy tale as an alternative account of history; potential of the fantastic to disrupt, redefine, and subvert power structures; restructuring of language by the female storyteller.
