Writing Blackness: Interdisciplinary Reflections on Racial Performativity (Deadline September 30)
How is blackness performed or appropriated in literature, film or theater in the twenty-first century? Is blackness being redefined? How so? This comparative literature panel focuses on questioning the many representations and performances of blackness(es) in contemporary world literature and in languages other than English. Topics include, but are not limited to: minstrelsy, the tragic mulatto, GLBTA theory and literature, Caribbean blackness(es), blackness and drag performance, black femininity/masculinity and blackness in politics.

Submit a 300 word abstract, title, five keywords and a mini-bio (100 words) to Kayla Paulk: klp68@pitt.edu. Submission deadline is September 30.
