CFP: Lit and Healing Arts / Medicine (11/1/06; CEA, 4/12/07-4/14/07)
Call for Papers for an NYCEA sponsored Special Topics Panel on
"Literature and the Healing Arts / Literature and Medicine" at the 2007
College English Association (CEA) Conference New Orleans—April 12 to
April 14, 2007
We welcome submissions of NYCEA papers presented previously on the
following NYCEA Conference theme, OR new submissions on the topic of
this special session call: " Literature and the Healing Arts /
Literature and Medicine"
We also welcome full panel proposals fitting the above panel topic.
It is our desire to be able to field at the CEA conference a number of
panels on the above NYCEA conference theme; it is our intent to create a
subset of scholarly communities, arising out of the NYCEA affiliate,
within the larger CEA conference community.
CEA is a vibrant organization and its conference has always celebrated
scholarly activity in many forms: papers on traditional literary
criticism, on writing theory, and on writing and literary teaching
pedagogies as they relate to the conference themes.
CEA conference panels are composed of three to four presenters; papers
are to be no more than 15 minutes in reading length.
The submission requirements are as follow:
1) Proposals of 200 to 500 words (include title) for the CEA Special
Topics Panels on Academic Leadership SHOULD BE submitted using the CEA
proposal submission site at the URL
http://english.ttu.edu/CEA/conftool/index.php indicating the topic
submission category of Academic Leadership and Mentoring.
Electronic submissions open September 15th and close on November 1st.
Submitting electronically is a two-step process: (1) setting up a user
ID; then (2) using that ID to log in—this time to a welcome page which
provides a link for submitting proposals to the conference. When you
submit your proposal, use the pull-down menu to indicate your topic
If submitting a panel, panel organizers must create user IDs for ALL
proposed partici- pants.
Though CEA prefers to receive proposals through the conference database,
we will accept hard-copy proposals (please indicate NYCEA special topic
"Literature and the Healing Arts / Literature and Medicine" as panel
topic to which you are submitting), postmarked no later than October
15th, via regular mail to the following address:
Henry Ford Community College
