CFP: An Introvert in an Extrovert World—Edited Collection
(12/30/13)

I am seeking submissions for a multi-disciplinary anthology about introversion in the world of extroversion. Susan Cain’s book, Quiet recently addressed the complexities of an issue that was initially raised by Carl Jung, and my anthology seeks to expand the idea of the challenges faced by those who are considered to be introverts—those who prefer reading to partying, listening to speaking—living in a world of people who cannot understand their quieter ways. Introverts are innovative and make significant contributions, but dislike self-promotion. That they are often labeled “quiet” often alludes to negative connotations. However, from Van Gogh’s Sunflowers to the invention of the personal computer, the “quiet ones” have made immeasurable and invaluable contributions to our society. The significant role and contributions of extroverts in society will also be explored through the essays in this book. Cambridge Scholars Publishing has already offered to consider publication of this anthology. Proposals on extroverts, introverts, or both, from any perspective would be welcomed—analysis of popular culture, literary works, television, advertisement, film, social media, as well as personal narratives are invited. Please submit a 250-word abstract and CV to Myrna J. Santos by December 30, 2013 to ESLCARE@aol.com or smyrna@nova.edu
