CFP: Iris: A Magazine of New Writing for LGBTQ+ Young Adults, 1.2: Histories (Deadline: 21 March 2014)
Iris, a quarterly literary magazine publishing short fiction and poetry on LGBTQ themes for young adults, invites submissions for its second issue on the theme of histories. Iris features writing and artwork that challenge and captivate young adult readers between the ages of 14 - 17. Iris welcomes work in all genres, from realistic fiction to fantasy. Poets may submit text and visual poems, and Iris accepts digital and scanned artwork. Work submitted to Iris must comply with our content policy as Iris is targeted to a young demographic, and is used as an educational tool in public and school libraries, school and public library-sponsored book clubs, and similar environments. For more information and to view our guidelines for submission, please visit our website at http://www.creatingiris.org.
We invite submissions for Volume 1, Issue 2: Histories. In our first issue, we considered our identities: who we are and who we are becoming. In this issue, we'd like to visit the past that frames our present. Let's take a look back to where we come from; to all that informs who we are and who we will grow to be.
Please submit your poetry and short fiction (under 2,000 words) through our submissions manager, accessible through http://www.creatingiris.org/submissions. We will accept submissions through 21 March 2014.
