“Brendan Behan: rescuing the writer from the myth”: International Brendan Behan Conference
25-26 September 2014
Abstracts are invited for individual papers, round table or panel proposals for an international conference to be held to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Brendan Behan’s death.
This 2-day conference will reassess the life and work of one of Ireland’s best known, most controversial, and least studied writers. It will explore the author’s writings in both English and Irish while taking stock of his overall achievement and legacy. Speakers will include Enrico Terrinoni (University for Foreigners, Perugia), Barry McCrea (University of Notre Dame), John McCourt (Università Roma Tre), Mícheál MacCraith (formerly of NUI Galway). Plenary speakers will be named shortly.
