Call for Papers
European Cinema Research Forum (ECRF)
14th Annual International Conference
"European Cinema: Urban, Suburban and Rural"
Oakland University (near Detroit, Michigan, USA)
7 July – 9 July 2014
The European Cinema Research Forum (ECRF) invites proposals for its 14th annual international film conference. In March 1970 famed film director Fritz Lang visited Oakland University, Michigan, to present a series of his films and to talk about his work. Screenings included such noted Lang films as "While the City Sleeps" and "Metropolis".
To celebrate Lang's 1970 visit and those screenings, this year's ECRF theme is European cinematic engagements with stories from the European city, in the European suburbs, or of the European countryside. ("Europe" can indeed include diasporic manifestations)

Last year's conference was held at the University of Edinburgh. Each year the ECRF publishes a special issue of the peer reviewed journal Studies in European Cinema (from 2014 published by Taylor and Francis/Routledge), drawn from the ECRF annual conference.
