CFP Contracted Edited Collection: American Creative Nonfiction; 4/1 Queries; 4/15 Abstracts Due

• Target audience of advanced High School to College classrooms, some graduate-level and scholars (i.e. keep the jargon down, a good idea anyway).
• One 4,000-word "Cultural and Historical Context" chapter on American Creative Nonfiction.
• One 4,000-word "Critical Reception" chapter surveying major criticism and major aspects of American Creative Nonfiction.
• One 4,000-word "Compare and Contrast" chapter on two to three works by different authors, contrast between sub-genres of CNF especially welcome here.
• Five to Six 5,000-word essays of literary criticism, each centering on an individual author but with a focus on one sub-genre of CNF, multiple works and some attention to other authors okay. Ex. an essay focusing on Susan Orlean but also covering some previous writers of Literary Journalism.
• Sub-genres still open: Medical Humanities and Illness Narratives, Sports Writing, Travel Writing, Lyric Essay, New Journalism. An essay focusing on Memoir should include some attention to overlap in sub-genre.
• Queries or Abstracts w/ C.V. to: jay.ellis@colorado.edu.
