CFP: British Popular Culture (Panels for MPCA,Oct 3-5, 2014); April 30 deadline
The Midwest Popular Association / American Culture Association conference will be held at the JW Marriott Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN, this October 3-5 (Friday-Sunday), 2014.
The British Popular Culture area is open to essays on a wide range of topics, but is particularly interested in essays that focus on:
• Themes and/or Popularity of British television (Downton Abbey, Luther, Doctor Who, etc.),
• British/American TV adaptations,
• British literary or cinematic alt-history, especially steampunk,
• British filmmakers (Andrea Arnold, Steve McQueen, Mike Leigh, Shane Meadows, Ben Wheatley, etc.),
• British comics creators (Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, Warren Ellis, Frank Quitely, Garth Ennis, etc.)
Please submit abstracts of 250-300 words by April 30, 2014, by logging into the following site http://submissions.mpcaaca.org/ and submitting your abstract, together with contact information, to the British Popular Culture area.
