                     2006 Annual Conference:

                     PSYCHOANALYSIS AND SOCIAL
                               CHANGE

                         Rutgers University

                         October 20-22, 2006
                   Keynote Speaker: Vamik Volkan
                  Submissions due by July 1, 2006.

This conference intends to address how
psychoanalytic/psychodynamic understanding or the
psychoanalytic process informs our theory and our practice.
Please think broadly about how theory and practice in your
discipline does or does not promote social change. Topics
might include:

* interdisciplinary projects that draw on
    psychoanalytic theory
* how and what we teach
* the role and social context of clinical practice
* political action; political process
* how we understand and work with =91difference=92
* psychoanalytic research: ethnography, discourse
    analysis
* implications for group and organizational structure
    and process
* theory development and the role of theory in social
    change
* the roles of language: discourse and text
* clinical interventions and applications
* The roles of media and the arts

  We are particularly interested in roundtables that discuss these
   issues and also invite you to think of alternate formats that
                         promote discussion.

   Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words: Please attach a
  cover sheet that includes your name, affiliation, location, and
                        contact information.
          Abstracts may be sent to: Marilyn Charles at:
