Writing and Rhetoric Area CFP [Deadline extended]
The Writing and Rhetoric in Popular Culture area of the Midwest Popular Culture Association seeks panel and paper proposals for the annual Midwest Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association conference, this year to be held Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5, 2014, at the JW Marriot Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN.
The area seeks papers whose topics address any aspect of writing/rhetoric and popular culture. This includes the use of popular culture in rhetoric/writing educational settings or interpretations of rhetoric/writing in popular culture. Topics might address, but are not in any way limited to
- Uses of popular culture to teach writing/rhetoric
- Depictions of writers/rhetors in popular media
- Applications of rhetorical theory to popular culture
- Analysis of writing/rhetoric in popular culture
- Unique forms of rhetoric used in popular culture
Submissions should be made electronically via our online submission system (http://submissions.mpcaaca.org/). Deadline for receipt of proposals is May 15, 2014.
Graduate students are invited to apply for competitively awarded travel grants from MPCA/MACA. Undergraduate students should enter our undergraduate paper competition.
