2nd International Conference of Greek-Albanian Studies
Tirana, Albania, March 27th-28th 2015

We are pleased to announce that the 2nd International Conference of Greek-Albanian Studies will be held in Tirana, Albania, in March 27th-28th 2015 under the general title: «DIACHRONIC AND SYNCHRONIC DIMENSIONS OF LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL INTERACTION BETWEEN GREEKS AND ALBANIANS».

Since its inception in 1997, the Albanian-Greek Association of Philology has played an important role in the creation of a global discussion on Albanian-Greek Studies. Its journal ALBANOHELLENICA has become a major international venue where scholars of the relevant fields publish their research, views, and insights. The First International Conference of Greek-Albanian Studies, held in Tirana in March 2012, confirmed the great interest that exists worldwide in this vast research area. This Conference aims to make a recapitulation of the studies made during this time, and to trace the main research trends in the field.

Conference Topics: All topics relevant to Greek-Albanian/Albanian-Greek Studies, especially new and innovative areas of research, are welcomed.

The organizers seek contributions in the form of papers and panels that will continue to examine the INTERACTION between Greek and Albanian culture, folklore, language, and literature. Aspects of Greek-Albanian and Albanian-Greek TRANSLATION may be presented, and special sections / panels may be dedicated to 1) the dialect and the literature of the Ethnic GREEK MINORITY in Albania, 2) to the ARVANITIKA, 3) to the linguistic aspects and literature of Albanian IMMIGRANTS in Greece, and 4) to language learning issues regarding the repatriated Albanian pupils from Greece.

Keynote speakers will address the conference at keynote and plenary sessions.

The conference is being organized by the Albanian-Greek Association of Philology, though the Association reserves the right to collaborate with other university and academic institutions in Albania, Greece, or any other part of the world, or even to delegate the organization of the event in order to ensure a successful event.

Official languages of the Conference are: English, Greek, and Albanian. Papers in French, German, and Italian can be accepted on the conditions that they are accompanied by a complete translation in one of the three aforementioned languages.

The call for papers and organized panel proposals is now open.
