This session seeks papers on pioneering women whose innovative work opened new fields of expression in literature, theater, music or the visual arts; on female artists who created or re-wrote the artistic canon; versatile talents who crossed genres and disciplines; women who resisted or rebelled against the coeval limitations of their gender or socio-economical condition through art. Areas of interest: European female artists between the 15th and 17th centuries.
