Panel topic - Latina/o sexualities and spaces in cultural production

Conference – The 2015 Latin American Studies Association Congress

Location – San Juan, Puerto Rico

Deadline for abstracts – August 25, 2014

Overview – During recent decades, an increasing number of critics and scholars have examined the way that Latina/o artists, filmmakers and writers have portrayed sexualities in spaces such as communities, performance venues and other environments. For instance, researchers have studied how sexuality and space are imagined and shaped in diverse ways, yet many questions remain about this multifaceted phenomenon. For example, today a greater number of Latina/o writers are addressing the manner in which space and sexuality intersect with human experiences such as class, gender, ethnicity and race. To address these matters, a panel is being assembled for the 2015 Latin American Studies Association congress. If you are interested in participating in this session, please send a 1-page abstract of your project to Dr. Ed Chamberlain at – ec10@uw.edu. Please include your preferred contact information and affiliation. The deadline to submit abstracts for this panel is Monday, August 25, 2014. Once the panel has been organized, a proposal will be submitted to the LASA program committee for review. The Latin American Studies Association congress will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico from May 27-30, 2015.
