30th Annual Conference, February 24-28, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico

The 2009 SW/TX PCA/ACA Conference will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Hyatt

Sessions now forming for the “American Studies” area. Email 250-word abstracts for individual
presentationsâ€"or 500-word abstracts for panel proposalsâ€"to Area Chair Paul D. Reich (English
Department, Rollins College) at Please include a current CV or bio. The
submission deadline for priority proposals is November 15, 2008. The final deadline for
proposals is December 1, 2008.

Scholars, teachers, professionals, and others interested in American Studies are encouraged to
participate. Graduate students are particularly welcome with award opportunities for best
graduate papers.

Panels and individual presentations in the broad area of American Studies should be concerned
with the cultures of the United States, but comparative studies and/or perspectives on the
transnational, global nature of American culture are also welcome. Given the location of the
conference, work on the American West is especially encouraged. Regardless of subject,
presentations in this area should be interdisciplinary, drawing from multiple methodologies and
