CFP: Dress & Fashion in Literature (3/31/07; collection)
**CFP: DRESS & FASHION IN LITERATURE**
We are looking for two essays to complete a manuscript under contract
*An essay on dress/fashion in Renaissance literature.
*An essay on dress/fashion in Romantic literature.
Issues under consideration include, but are not limited to, the
--use of clothing as symbol, image, motif, metaphor
--border crossing through dress
--costume and disguise
--adornment and identity
--economics of clothing
--fashion and parody
--dress as performance art
--fashion and "the gaze"
--cultural values and literary garb
--clothes as a second skin
Since time is quite limited, we would prefer to receive completed
essays (in MLA format) by March 31, 2007, but please feel free to
email a 250-300 word proposal now if you could provide a completed
essay sometime in April. Submissions should be accompanied by a brief
bio and contact information (in the body of your email). **Chapters
should be sent as Microsoft Word document attachments.**
