Greetings, all. The panels are set for SCSECS 2008, February 21-23. Please
visit http://www.scsecs.net/scsecs/ for the updated list and contact panel
chairs directly with your proposals by October 1. If you do not see
anything that meets your interests, please send me a proposal directly:
kathryn.duncan_at_saintleo.edu.

We're very excited about our next meeting. The theme is "Reinventing the
Self" in honor of our host city, New Orleans. The conference will take
place at the Hotel Monteleone in the heart of the French Quarter. It is one
of the city's finest, and we have secured a rate of $169. Our esteemed
featured speakers are Cynthia Lowenthal, dean of the college of the
humanities and social sciences at the College of Charleston and scholar on
Lady Mary Montagu and Restoration drama, and Daniel H. Usner, Jr., Holland
M. McTyeire Professor of history at Vanderbilt University who has written
on Louisiana Indians and the early American South. And, for a lighter side,
AMS Press is hosting a Friday night reception where Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and
the Zydeco Twisters will play.

Please contact me with any general questions or email panel chairs
directly. I hope to see you there.

Best,
Kathryn Duncan
SCSECS President
