Papers are sought on eighteenth-century conceptions of sacred space for a
panel at ASECS 2009.

Of particular interest are assessments of or participation in pilgrimages,
proto-sociological, philosophical or historical readings of sacredness, the
relationship between seeing and believing, and the use of previous
authorities in descriptions of sacred space in the literary, visual, or
musical arts.

Interdisciplinary and non-Anglo approaches are welcome. Please e-mail
one-page proposals for 20-minute papers to mjs205_at_nyu.edu. The deadline is
September 25th.
