This panel focuses on the eighteenth-century fascination with the
immaterial, abstract, and spectral, whether in literature, architecture,
art and aesthetic theory, or natural philosophy. Topics may include but
are not limited to the following: immaterialism; theories of vision and
perception; theories of imagination; apparition literature; haunted spaces;
