UPDATE: [American] Faulkner and Chopin Conference 2008: Undergraduate Writing Contest

The Center for Faulkner Studies and Department of English at Southeast
Missouri State University will sponsor an undergraduate writing contest in
conjunction with their 2008 Faulkner and Chopin Conference. The conference
will take place October 2-4, 2008. Undergraduate students from any
institution are encouraged to submit papers for this conference. These
papers (15-20-minutes) may be on Faulkner, Chopin, or both. The authors
of the top three undergraduate submissions will receive cash prizes
respectively of $100, $75, and $50; a waiver of the conference
registration fee; and an invitation to read the winning entries at the
conference (winners must participate in the conference to qualify for the
cash award). Contest submissions must be received by the Center for
Faulkner Studies by August 15, 2008. Undergraduate submissions not
awarded cash prizes will be considered for inclusion among the
presentations at the conference.

In addition, the Faulkner and Chopin Conference will continue to accept
abstracts for 20-minute conference presentations through April 30, 2008. E-
mail a 250-word abstract to: cfs_at_semo.edu.
