Call for Papers:

Toward a New Understanding of Indigeneity

We are seeking papers that compare Chicana/o and Native American
Literature. For example, one of the accepted papers compares Rudolfo
Anaya’s Bless Me, Última and Leslie Marmon Silko’s Ceremony in terms
their indigenous commonality with regard to culture and epistemology.
Other topics could consider issues of globalization, assimilation, race,
gender, class or cultural conflict or newly emerging issues within the
literatures of the Southwest. We are looking for papers that capture the
flavor of Southwestern Literature; the writing and scholarship should be
well-done, and the theoretical focus must be clear, thought-out, and
plainly articulated. Email abstracts or full MSS to sjking_at_iup.edu.
