The Latina/Latino Studies Program of the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign invites proposals/abstracts for an interdisciplinary
graduate student conference to be held February 20-22, 2009. The purpose of
this conference is to explore the historical and cultural processes that
affect Latinas/os in the United States. The 2009 conference seeks to engage
in understanding the development, application, and future of gender,
sexuality and feminism in relation to U.S. Latinas/os. We aim to centralize
silences, absences and non-normative bodies of analysis within academic
spaces through an interdisciplinary dialogue. Terquedades/ Nuevos "Sitios y

commonalities, differences, and varied experiences of Latina/o populations
in this country.
