CFP: Doctor Who (10/1/06; PCA/ACA, 4/4/07-4/7/07)full name / name of organization: Barbara A Silliman contact email: drsilliman@gmail.com DOCTOR WHO We are organizing at least one (but hopefully more) panel(s) on DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO (DW) has returned to television with great acclaim and Below is a list of those areas within which a critical discussion of DW can * Narrative -- How do the ten different Doctors affect the narrative dynamic * Society -- How has contemporary society been revealed and shown change over * Feminism -- representation of women over 4+ decades through DW * Masculinism -- representation of men over 4+ decades through DW * The Alien Other in DW -- simply satire or something more * Re-imaged Villains in DW -- have the monsters undergone a more realistic * Re-imaged Doctor in DW -- has the Doctor become more human over 4+ decades * Culture -- representations of contemporary British culture over 4+ decades * War and peace as represented over 4+ decades through DW * Low-budget and low-tech -- how class and craft overcome financial * 21st century series -- more funds, better effects, but is it the same DW * Psychology -- Freudian, Jungian, Lacanian investigations of DW
